The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is low-cost, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.
But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually risen the price of oil, the concern of finding alternative of fuel has entered into sharp focus.
In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is taking benefit of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
